The main idea of enabling jumbo frames is that when full sized frames are used with jumbos enabled (today normally 9000 bytes or so, but up to 12000 bytes or so can exist depending on vendor and interface) you have (with 9000 as MTU) 1/6'th the amount of interrupts needed to maintain the same amount of data on the wire.
